# { "Depends": "py-genlayer:1jb45aa8ynh2a9c9xn3b7qqh8sm5q93hwfp7jqmwsfhh8jpz09h6" } """ ServicePact: escrowed freelance delivery settlement judged against locked documents. CONCEPT ------- A client locks a statement of work (SOW), an acceptance checklist and six written criteria BEFORE funding. The contractor delivers by pointing at files pinned to a git commit. Validators fetch every document themselves and judge the delivery. Payment follows from criterion statuses by a fixed rule; model prose never moves money. Who benefits from a false verdict: the contractor from a false DELIVERED, the client from a false REJECTED. EVIDENCE SOURCES (one source, one fetch method) ----------------------------------------------- Host: raw.githubusercontent.com URL pattern: https://raw.githubusercontent.com///<40-hex commit>/ derived by the contract from (repo, commit, path); no raw URL is ever accepted from a caller. A commit-pinned path cannot be edited after the fact, so content cannot be swapped between commitment and judgment. Fetch method: gl.nondet.web.get (plain text, no JS rendering needed) Deciding fields: the text of the SOW files, checklist files and work-product files. WHO SUPPLIES WHAT ----------------- SOW + checklist client, at create_engagement (locked before any funds move). Work product contractor, at submit_delivery (the thing being judged). Deadline client, at create_engagement; must be in the future then. CRITERIA (six, fixed ids) ------------------------- Deterministic, computed in code: engagement_identity work product text contains "engagement:" contractor_binding work product text contains "contractor:" timeline_compliance first submission time <= locked deadline Judged by validators (exact agreement, zero tolerance): scope_completeness, quality_standard, acceptance_checklist Outcome rule (code, not the model): any VIOLATED -> REJECTED; otherwise, when the contractor's work was fetched and bound but a CLIENT-controlled document (SOW or checklist) was unavailable -> EVIDENCE_HELD, then CLIENT_DEFAULT; otherwise any UNRESOLVED -> STALLED; otherwise DELIVERED. Missing identity/contractor markers are UNRESOLVED (fixable by resubmission); a late first submission is VIOLATED. CLIENT-CONTROLLED EVIDENCE CANNOT BE WITHHELD FOR PROFIT -------------------------------------------------------- The contractor controls the work documents; the client controls the SOW and the checklist. Unavailable work documents stall the engagement (the contractor's problem: repair or the client reclaims). Unavailable client documents never stall it in the client's favour: the engagement moves to EVIDENCE_HELD and records when that was first observed. If a later adjudication (callable by anyone) still cannot fetch them after CLIENT_EVIDENCE_GRACE, the outcome is CLIENT_DEFAULT and the contractor may release the payment. Restoring the documents at any time resumes normal judgment and resets the clock. The client cannot reclaim while evidence is held; if the contractor never triggers a second adjudication, the client may reclaim only after HELD_ABANDON_WINDOW. NEUTRAL RECOVERY WHEN ADJUDICATION NEVER FINALIZES -------------------------------------------------- If an engagement stays SUBMITTED for ADJUDICATION_TIMEOUT after the delivery was recorded (validators keep disagreeing, timing out, or ending UNDETERMINED), anyone may call recover_unadjudicated: the escrow is split in half, floor(amount/2) to the contractor and the rest to the client, and the engagement is RECOVERED. The rule never reads a document, a model reply or a caller-supplied value. VERDICT REACHABILITY (every value traced to a code branch) ---------------------------------------------------------- DELIVERED adjudicate: all six SATISFIED. EVIDENCE_HELD / CLIENT_DEFAULT adjudicate: work fetched and bound (both markers SATISFIED), no VIOLATED, and a SOW or checklist document unavailable. RECOVERED recover_unadjudicated: SUBMITTED past ADJUDICATION_TIMEOUT. REJECTED adjudicate: a validator-judged criterion VIOLATED, or the first submission was after the deadline (timeline VIOLATED). STALLED adjudicate: any UNRESOLVED and nothing VIOLATED (fetch failure, ambiguous evidence, missing markers, malformed model output). FUNDS AND EXITS (pull-based; state is written before any transfer) ------------------------------------------------------------------- fund_engagement client escrows the exact amount (DRAFT -> FUNDED). FUNDED client may reclaim_funds at any time (contractor cannot act yet). OPEN, no packet client may reclaim_funds once the deadline has passed. SUBMITTED anyone may adjudicate_engagement; no party can block it. Past ADJUDICATION_TIMEOUT anyone may recover_unadjudicated (50/50 split). EVIDENCE_HELD anyone may adjudicate again; the client may reclaim only after HELD_ABANDON_WINDOW from the first observation. CLIENT_DEFAULT contractor calls release_payment. DELIVERED contractor calls release_payment. REJECTED client calls reclaim_funds. STALLED contractor may resubmit within RESUBMIT_WINDOW and the repair budget; after either runs out the client calls reclaim_funds. DELIBERATE GAPS --------------- * No appeal on REJECTED beyond protocol-level appeals. * A DELIVERED or CLIENT_DEFAULT escrow stays claimable by the contractor indefinitely. * The 50/50 recovery split is a no-fault rule, not a verdict: a party who expects an unfavourable verdict could prefer it, so the timeout is long and any account can adjudicate in the meantime. * A fetch failure that is really a transient GitHub outage is observed twice, at least CLIENT_EVIDENCE_GRACE apart, before it can pay the contractor. * Amounts up to 10**24 are returned as decimal strings; JSON numbers lose precision above 2**53 in JavaScript clients. * The judged criteria compare statuses only; observed_fact and witness ids are audit metadata and are not compared across validators. * Only text files in public GitHub repositories can be evidence.
